planning to update hadoop from 2.9.0 -> 2.10.1, which is the most recent release on the Hadoop 2 line.

 

Hadoop 2 is not EOL as of now. There's a discussion happening on the hadoop dev list about making a couple of additional Hadoop 2.10.z releases before starting an EOL discussion.
