Also, 1.0r3 comes the following error but continues the build process:

Tag library requested that is not present: 'maven' in plugin: 'maven-xdoclet-plugin-1.2'

I don't understand the first part of this - it seems unrelated to maven. The warning you saw later is just a warning, not a problem.
