Add/update users through ambari API?
I can't find anything in the docs about how to create new users or update existing users (i.e. Change the password for the default user) via the Ambari API. Is this possible? If so, what is the URL I should be hitting?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, this is possible.
This needs to be documented:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AMBARI-4963
If you need this information right away, what you can do is deploy the
Ambari trunk build, open up javascript console is the browser, and watch
the Network tab as you create/edit users via the Ambari Admin Console (the
first screen you see when you log in as admin/admin).
