column level meta data

Hi all!
I use the ParquetReader/Writer in version 1.9.0 of parquet-hadoop and write/read my own file meta data. But if I understand thepicture at https://parquet.apache.org/documentation/latest/ correctly there exist also column level meta data,
How do i write/read them? I pointer to an example would suffice.
