Unable to link the command line frontend

Hi all,

this is basically my first attempt to get svn bootstrapped. I hit this
link problem, both starting from the 1302 sources as well as with a
fresh tree extracted from the repository with the 1305 static
binary. Everything seems going right without a glitch, until the
compilation reaches the clients/cmdline directory:

...
cd subversion/clients/cmdline && /bin/sh
/home/lele/WiP/subversion/svn/libtool --silent --mode=link gcc
-DLINUX=2 -D_REENTRANT -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500 -D_BSD_SOURCE
-D_SVID_SOURCE -g -Wall -Wmissing-prototypes -Wstrict-prototypes

libtool: link: cannot find the library `'
make: *** [subversion/clients/cmdline/svn] Error 1

I tried to understand what is going on, to give some meaning to that
"cannot find library `'" from libtool, but I wasn't able to figure it
out. I'm on a Debian `woody' distro, btw. As indicated, I downloaded
latest apr and apr-utils from the Apache's CVS, and Berkeley DB, that
I extracted right under .../svn/, and configured with the suggested
options.

Any hint?

thanx&bye,
lele.

off the top of my head i can't think of anything that would cause that
kind of problem, but you're probably going to have to provide some more
information in order for someone to help.

what operating system? what version of libtool? what version of
autoconf?

what configuration options did you pass to subversion?

are you building with in tree versions of apr/apr-util/neon/bdb or
installed versions?

Yeah! Two of them contained the option `-pthread'! Removed that,
everything is compiling fine.

Thank you, lele.

In those .la files are lists of dependent libraries. One of them contains
something that has the wrong syntax, or isn't a library link command, or
otherwise is something that libtool can't parse. I've run into this
before through sending the wrong flags to libtool somewhere farther up the
line or due to a bug in libtool.

You have to look into the .la files to debug it further; look for anything
that isn't -L/something or -lsomething.
