RE: want to simulate browser close
I think that if you set the cookie manager to reset after each itereation then it will be behaving as you want.

Subject: want to simulate browser close
Folks,
I want to simulate one particular situation through Jmeter.
In my application the session is maintained through cookies. Now these
cookies are set to be "session-only" ie setMaxAge(some negative value)
which means the cookie is not stored persistently and will be deleted
when the Web browser exits. Now i want to simulate a browser close
through Jmeter and then Jmeter should again simulate a browser open and
start with the login page(which incidentally is the starting page of the
Test Plan) again with
another login request with the same cookie.
another login request without the same cookie.
How is this possible ?I want to check how this situation is handled under
load and ensure nothing weird is happening at the server side .(ie if a
new session starts with an old cookie that session should be invalidated)
N.B: Internet explorer 6.0 keeps the cookies in memory and when the
browser exits it clears up the memory. Is this the way Cookie manager in
Jmeter handles cookies?I am using Jmeter 2.2 . I have run my test plan
before with the Cookie manager in place at the top level in the Thread
Group.

Re: want to simulate browser close
Posted by Ch...@labware.com.
I have tried with your suggestion and my application actually works ok.
But i am not being able to simulate the browser close .Any ideas on how to
do it ?Lets keep it simple. Say i have two threads(say A and B). Say A
goes through some steps and then decides to close his browser and then
open again and start from the beginning point again and try to complete
the test. B will go on as it is expected to go. How to script this
scenario ?

I suspect it will work OK as it will clear the cookie cache at the end of
the single path through the loop - but why not try it and let us know :-)

Thanks Alex for your prompt reply but initially I would like to keep it
very very simple and i am not bothered with timings now .Rather I want to
just check that my responses are proper when n number of users are
operating simultaneously and some of them closes their browser and opens
them again and starts a new session. To start with I am keeping loop cunt
=1. If that is the case , how will the cookie manager reset after
iteration as there wont be any iteration at all.?
