[VOTE] 4.0.M3 second attempt
Hi All,
I've added java8 module to the assembly and switched assembly module
to the cayenne-java8-module-to-build
profile. So assembly module now requires Java 8. Also I've added .idea
directory to the exclusions.
Maven artifacts:
https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/orgapachecayenne-1009
Assemblies: https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/cayenne/4.0.M3/
Tests:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1sLR2CykqZSoPU2WdQaKKcp4rLgwja4fmPEOvYw5zZgc/edit?usp=sharing
Please evaluate and cast your votes.

The maven target works OK for me and discovered a couple of files missing licenses. I'll tidy them up now, but I don't think they should cause us to halt this release.
My other reviews look good. +1

To ensure I'm looking at the new M3, can you confirm that the source MD5 is
MD5 (/Users/ari/Downloads/cayenne-4.0.M3-src.tar.gz) = ca81d35a03d576178ddba5ba91aaa6ea

I just found a note in SQLServerAdapter javadocs:
* Note on case-sensitive LIKE: if your application requires case-sensitive
* LIKE support, ask your DBA to configure the database to use a case-senstitive
* collation (one with "CS" in symbolic collation name instead of "CI", e.g.
* "SQL_Latin1_general_CP1_CS_AS").
IIRC this is the collation that we need to use for the tests.

Hi All,
I've investigated deeper the failed mysql tests and created appropriate
JIRA tickets for some of those.

Specific to settings of my database. I have SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS
collation. So I have to add CI_PROPERTY ("
cayenne.runtime.db.collation.assume.ci") runtime property, then this test
will be skipped; or I have to change collation of my database.

IIRC the issue was that MySQL has no notion of N* data types, so the tests depending on the DB being able to tell between NTYPE and TYPE are not possible. We should do a better job with test "excludes" by DB capability mapping though.

Re: [VOTE] 4.0.M3 second attempt

Am I right in assuming the failed mysql tests are just missing data types in mysql:
ReturnTypesMappingIT.testNCHAR:274
ReturnTypesMappingIT.testNCLOB:339
ReturnTypesMappingIT.testLONGNVARCHAR:620
ReturnTypesMappingIT.testNVARCHAR:935
We should map those in the tests to appropriate mysql types or suppress those for mysql?
I don't use MS-SQL much myself, so I don't know too much about it. What are our broken tests there in reference to?
Failed tests:
DataContextEJBQLDateTimeFunctionalExpressionsIT.testCURRENT_TIME:85
DataContextEJBQLDateTimeFunctionalExpressionsIT.testCURRENT_TIMESTAMP:110
DbLoaderIT.testLoad:187
SelectQueryIT.testSelectLikeCaseSensitive:26
Tests in error:
DbLoaderIT.testGetTablesWithWrongCatalog:120

Here is my checklist:
1. MD5 matches
2. Signature checks
3. rat passes
4. builds from source
5. Modeler runs on OS X
5. Modeler runs on Windows
6. cayenne-java8.jar is now present in assembly
7. Maven artifacts: I switched link-rest, link-move, bootique projects locally to the staging Maven repo below. Test suites form each of the projects succeeded 100%.
8. None of the newly uncovered unit test issues are critical. And there are now Jiras for them. I don't think any of them are blockers.
So, I am +1.
