Run / Launch a java application with ANT
Hello,
I'm new with ANT, I'm trying to write a script for do several things but I don't find help about run a java application and check the possible errors occurred during the execution.
Is it possible to do this with ANT? How must I proceed? Exists any url or link with a manual about this?
Thank you very much.
Best Regards,
Raúl Redondo

1. Use the CVS task to perform an update. (
http://ant.apache.org/manual/CoreTasks/cvs.html)
2. Use the SQL task for updates and inserts in your database. (
http://ant.apache.org/manual/CoreTasks/sql.html)
3. Both of the above can be bundled into one single Ant target.
Anytime, the above mentioned task limit you to do certain things, you can
always use the EXEC task (http://ant.apache.org/manual/CoreTasks/exec.html)
the way you want to.

I want to create a big script for update data from a CVS repository and alter update the database and load data into it and do it in only one object.
Thanks for all.

I dont know what you want to achive. I could think of
- launching the application during the build for tests
- provide a launcher to the end user
- monitor an application (e.g. in the enterprise environment)
The first can be done with <java>. JMX could ask the running application for data if you cont have alternative communication channels.
The second should not be done with Ant. There are other launchers on the market. (I dont have one on the hand...)
The third should also not be done with Ant. Tools are eHealth, Nagios, etc ... (SmartFrog as OpenSource alternative ?)

Thank you very much, Jan,
If I'm not wrong I must include the jmx4ant.jar library and after this, using the Mbean elements invoque to my own java application. Isn't it?
In the way that not exist a way to check running java errors... Would be better to run a .bat file (I'm working with windows) or better use Mbean.
Thank you very much for your help.
