[jira] [Commented] (CASSANDRA-6307) Switch cqlsh from cassandra-dbapi2 to python-driver

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSANDRA-6307?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13912157#comment-13912157 ]

Aleksey Yeschenko commented on CASSANDRA-6307:
----------------------------------------------

Will have a good look later, only skimmed it briefly. https://github.com/Mishail/cassandra/commit/0f3a79fb36c415ab8395eed2ef673b726666d79f behavior should be reverted - there is a big difference between null and an empty column value, and it should be reflected in the output.

Also, need a way to specify ssl cert (and now that with use the new driver, both certs - including, optionally, the client cert). Same wrt password-based auth.

> python-driver is hitting 1.0 soon. cassandra-dbapi2 development has stalled.
> It's time to switch cqlsh to native protocol and cassandra-dbapi2, especially now that
> 1. Some CQL3 things are not supported by Thrift transport
> 2. cqlsh no longer has to support CQL2 (dropped in 2.0)
