can't start: Unrecognized VM option

I am trying to get jmeter up and running. The server is a debian testing
machine and the client is a Libranet 3.0 install (basically debian testing as
well).

I have downloaded and extracted. When I try to run ./jmeter I get the
following error:
Unrecognized VM option 'TargetSurvivorRatio=50%'
Could not create the Java virtual machine.

In a quick attempt I commented that out and got another Unrecognized VM opion
error.

I have an installed Sun 1.5 JRE and it is working on other Java apps including
web browser plugins.

Thanks for any advice.

If it does not solve the problem, I suggest you raise a Bugzilla issue.

It would be helpful if you could include the output from:

java -h
java -X
