Looking for documentation on writing serializers

I am still coming up to speed on axis. Is there anyplace that I can find 
documentation on writing a serializer? My needs are pretty small, just 
being basically a variation on the bean serializer, where there is no 
default constructor. The included documentation in axis seems to just have 
a "to be done" section and the commentary in the source is a little lean.
