   Thanks @kflansburg this is interesting. Would you mind explaining your use case for this? It has been a while since I used Kafka personally and I wondering what the benefit is to have the messages in Arrow format.
   
   Would the intent be to also use Arrow for the payload to take full advantage of this? For example, allowing DataFusion to run SQL queries against Kafka topics similar to KSQL?
