[jira] [Commented] (SLIDER-175) Scripts for installing, running, and destroying slider applications

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SLIDER-175?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14045940#comment-14045940 ]

Shane Kumpf commented on SLIDER-175:

That makes sense. As there are HDFS operations that need to occur, what is the recommended python client for interacting with HDFS in a platform agnostic way? WebHDFS? I can work on porting these to python.

The design could be improved upon as well. setup_slider is a bit misleading as it both installs and launches apps. It would probably be good to split out those functionalities. My thought is remove the launch functionality completely setup_slider and improve the included bin/slider to be able to leverage a config file for environment details.
