Request for suggestion on SVN hardware requirement

Hi all,

I am planning for a SVN server (using https) for 100 developers with 2 big
repositories (which will handle code and artwork) and we have gigabyte
network ready. I would like to know where will normally be the bottleneck.
And if possible, some suggestion on hardware requirement.

Many thanks,

Edison

It's not fair to say it's not that demanding. I have 15 users who use it heavily, and consistently/constantly max it out, on direct connected GB, with 6 disks in raid 5. It's absolutely a function of how many files the average user uses, and how large they are. You can never know what usage will be like.

For what it's worth, the tradeoff between which protocol you use can sometimes make the difference. Http and https provide the most granular control and most secure authentication, but svnserve is definitely faster.

I guess any normal server with a RAID5 (I really recommend it) should do.
SubVersion isn't that demanding.
