Provide following statistics for tomcat :
1. Per Host/Container -
a. Initially provide the following per connector statistics for each connector -
Cummulative statistics about all request handled by this connector since the stat were turned on.
b. If time (before 1.0 release) permits, use 'a' to generate (rename/compute) statistics similar to the ones provided by Jetty
2. Per application -
a.. processingTime : The cumulative processing times of all servlets in this StandardContext
b. startTime - The time this context was started.
c. startupTime - The time (in milliseconds) it took to start this context.
d.. tldScanTime() -
Later add session statistics and jsp statistics.
3. Per Servlet - Explore using statistics from RequestInfo to provide statistics for a servlet.

Please discard all the old patches. These patches implement 1.a and 2. JSR77Servlet shows how to use these.
These statistics are provided since the component was started. The console must do the arithmetic to compute
values during a given time period.

The ServletStats(JSR77) can easily be added when we incorporate 'Servlet' J2EEManagedObject.

There is a problem with our current tomcat (5.5.15) integration. In a standalone mode tomcat (5.5.15) returns
connector statistics via GlobalRequestProcessor. Inside geronimo all returned values are zero! The cause of this
still unknown. These patches worked with 5.5.12.
The servlet stats require Gbean implementation from G-1035. Given that adding servlet GBeans duplicates the
servlet MBeans, and might affect performance, I am looking at an alternate solution.

Yes, there is a newer version of the debug console that more of a
straight forward JMX object viewer. It is still being debated if this
should be merged with the admin console or kept independent. The admin
console in general attempts to provide more easy to use information for
somebody not necessarily familiar with JMX.
My apologies for not yet responding on your earlier appends on the
server statistics. I hope to get back to that very soon (hopefully
later today or tomorrow).

Thanks, for providing valuable feedback. I do not
search for anything. The console (or any other tool)
will ask for stats for a specific component. When I
wrote this, I got carried away... I was thinking about
a no-frill tool like JMXProxyServlet see
http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-5.5-doc/manager-howto.html#Using%20the%20JMX%20Proxy%20Servlet
for Geronimo gurus. I am not sure about its
usefulness. I see there is a new JMX debug console
already in the works.

You shouldn't be doing anything by ObjectName. Instead, as you said,
you should get the WebContainer and get the connectors from there. If
you want to search the whole world for statistics providers, start
with the domain object and just march the tree looking for
J2EEManagedObjects that return true for isStatisticsProvider.

Provide getters for the above stastistics for HTTP connector. The values will be returned from a local copy.
To get the freshest value, refresh() must be called before calling the getters.

Query tomcat Mbean
"Catalina:type=GlobalRequestProcessor,........................." to get the following statistcs for each of its
connectors. Their Jetty equivalents are written next to each.
1. RequestCount : _requests : total requests made to the server, I guess to get this
add RequestCount from all the connectors.
2. maxTime : _requestsDurationMax : max request duration
3. bytesSent - no Jetty equivelent
4. bytesReceived - no Jetty equivalent
5. processingTime - _requestsDurationTotalTime : total request duration time
6. errorCount - _errors : total bad requests to the server
Query "Catalina:type=GlobalRequestProcessor,........................". to obtain per request
statistics. These can be used to compute
_requestsActive (number of requests currently being handled) ,e.g., go through each req stat, find the
active ones, and count them up.
Expose tomcat's mBeanServer via TomcatContainer, and write TomcatStatsGbean.
setStatesOn would mean initializing all the stat attributes of these Mbeans.
