Re: GDAL integration

Hi Joe,

Thanks for your message!

For future reference, you can email the Apache SIS developers at:

sis-dev@incubator.apache.org

You can subscribe to this list by sending a blank email message to:

sis-dev-subscribe@incubator.apache.org

And then following the instructions from there.

As for your direct question, I personally would love help integrating GDAL
into SIS! I know others (like Adam) are also interested in this. One way
I can see doing that to start out with is to make our data input mechanism
(which currently only supports GeoRSS -- see SIS-3 [1]) more flexible in
leveraging the Apache Tika toolkit [2]. There is an issue currently in Tika
to allow Tika to wrap GDAL (as a Java driver through its Java API bindings)
that I created here: TIKA-605 [3].

Would love some help there -- or in any other mechanism or manner you think
makes sense in terms of integrating GDAL into SIS.

Thanks and would help to hear your thoughts.

Cheers,
Chris
