custom metadata

Hi,

I need some advice on the editing of metadata in custom doctypes. I find 
the BXE editor suitable for documents, but not for more structured data, 
for which the good old html-form does a tremendous job. Is it possible 
at all to have a custom metadata form for a specific doctype and edit it 
in the way the dc data is edited currently?

What steps are needed to change the metadata editor and how can i 
override the stylesheets that are responsible for the metadata create 
and edit forms for a specific doctype?
