Fwd: [jira] Geschlossen: (XMLRPC-27) Patch to allow protocol://user:password@host.domain.tld urls to be supplied to XmlRpcClient

Hi all,
Jochen has decided not to apply the patch supplied for this
enhancement. He recommends that I consult on the users list if I want
to ensure that no one wants this feature.

Is it true that no one wants the xml rpc client to accept usernames
and passords in the URL like this? it isn't rocket science but its a
pretty standard way of doing this.

d.

The issue has seen no actual activity in more than three years now.
Consequently, I assume that there is no true interest in this
functionality. Additionally, I for myself do find no reason for an
alternative way to specify credentials.

I am closing the issue now. Please reopen, if required.

Hi!

I very much like to see this feature in a future version of the XmlRpcClient.
Like you wrote, it is a pretty (convenient) standard way of doing this.

I think it should have it. If its there, people can use it intuitively
without consulting the documentation.

Given that it doesn't inconvenience *anyone*, and you wrote A PATCH for
it, I see absolutely no reason why he shouldn't merge it in.

Good luck with fixing this,

Oli
