   From @rnewson (with Cloudant):

   ```irc
   11:30 <+rnewson> cloudant supports TLS 1.0,1.1,1.2,1.3 for sure, yeah
   11:31 <+rnewson> I can't say if any version of erlang works correctly with openssl 1.1.1.
   11:31 <+rnewson> (99%+ of replications from couchdb to cloudant are using < TLS 1.3 btw,
                    so it certainly works)
   11:32 <+rnewson> only browsers support TLS 1.3 so far, by and large. so we only see TLS
                    1.3 connections for dashboard things.
   ```

   Erlang itself doesn't have support for TLS 1.3 or OpenSSL 1.1.1 yet:

   > "no promises but planned for erlang 22"

   Not sure there is anything for us to do here since this is an Erlang problem, not a CouchDB problem.

   Recommend staying with 1.1.0 or 1.0.2. We'll ensure things work for TLS 1.3 when Erlang 22 is out.
