An architecture question

Hi,

We have two Oracle databases (8.1.7) on two different UNIX boxes
(solaris
8). As a means of communication between the two boxes, we want to use
SOAP
technology. I would like to know:
     - what do we need to implement SOAP (RPC) using HTTP and XML ( a
web
server, a SOAP server, a SOAP client etc.?!) and how can       we make
it
happen ( a more detailed answer is highly appreciated).
     - How SOAP is communicating with Oracle (Net8, TTC-OCI)
     - Briefly how SOAP works.
     - Any reference Web sites.
