[users@httpd] Problems with mod_auth_db in RedHat 9

After upgrading an x86 machine from RedHat 8 to RedHat 9, Apache
(1.3.27) began to complain about mod_auth_db:

Cannot load /usr/sbin/httpd/libexec/mod_auth_db.so into server:
/usr/sbin/httpd/libexec/mod_auth_db.so: undefined symbol: dbopen

A clean (re)make of Apache led to the same results. Does anyone have
any advice?

Thanks,
Jim Miller
