Very slow spooling on James-2.3.0rc2

Hi,
I'm running some experiments using james-2.3.0rc2 and james-postage2.
I'm running james on a Debian Linux 2.6.16 #1 SMP. Since a few days I'm
observing the spooler thread becoming very slow. I'm loading the server with
about 650 mails/min and the spool dir grows very fast. No more than 25 mail/min
are spooled to user mail boxes.

This is an extract of postage output when everything worked fine:
INFO: reached checkpoint after 17 of 6000 minute(s) running.
Nov 24, 2006 1:16:10 AM org.apache.james.postage.PostageRunner logElapsedData

And this in an extract of postage output giving an idea of what's happening
right now:

INFO: reached checkpoint after 10 of 6000 minute(s) running.

No changes were made in postage.xml and
$JAMES_ROOT/apps/james/SAR-INF/config.xml
Someone in the mailing list wrote to stop the server, drop the spooler threads
number to 1, restart the server, let it do the spooling stuff, and then restore
the correct number of threads (and restart the server again). But it didn't
work. The spooler simply continues spooling messages very very slowly.
No other process is using the CPU on the machine where james is installed.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Otherwise my advisor will kill me.

Salvatore

BTW, I believe ORDB is dead and probably should be removed from the
default config file. -- Bud

I think its related to:
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JAMES-504

or:
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JAMES-603

Anyway upgrading to 2.3.0 is very recomment.
