[jira] [Created] (LEGAL-628) GPL Linking Question
Charles Givre created LEGAL-628:
-----------------------------------
Summary: GPL Linking Question
Key: LEGAL-628
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LEGAL-628
Project: Legal Discuss
Issue Type: Question
Components: Policy Question
Reporter: Charles Givre
Hello,
I'm the PMC chair for Apache Drill.
I'm interested in adding an extension to Drill which relies on an external library that is licensed under L-GPL3. The library in question is [https://github.com/isac322/OneDrive-SDK-java. |https://github.com/isac322/OneDrive-SDK-java]
This is not a core functionality to Drill and can be excluded without compromising any functionality other than this optional feature. I'm wondering:
# Would it be acceptable to include this with Drill, but only with a flag at compile time? IE: The library would not be included in the binaries and would only be included with an explicit flag.
# If that doesn't work, do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks!
