For the record, Maven Java EE 8 projects are created from an archetype: [https://github.com/juneau001/javaee8-archetype]

> The pom.xml for new Java EE projects targets JDK 1.8. Most servers already support at least JDK 11. Maven Java SE applications target the default JDK version configured in NetBeans. IMO this should work the same way for Java EE projects.
