While I read most of the opensocial support forums, most shindig dev's
don't... so these kind of questions are best send to the

With that out of the way: That file has been broken for quite a while (since
we support 0.8.1 in shindig really, so it's been non-functioning for over 6
months really), and combined with the 'impl' configuration in the
container.js file it confused a lot of people into thinking that to 'enable
server side rest support' they had to switch to 'impl' : 'rest' ... which
then broke their shindig installation.

So we did the only thing that made sense, removing the broken implementation
and confusing configuration key.

Since we strongly prefer using the RPC protocol from javascript since it
allows us to batch requests which offers substantial speed and latency
improvements, it's extremely unlikely we'll add that back. The only way it
would make it's reappearance is if someone thought it was important enough
to write and support it and contribute it to the shindig project.
