Closing to the end of this issue. Found out that one of the current rules we used: {{PushFilterIntoTableSourceScanRule}} is broken due to CALCITE-2454. The digest-to-relational mapping is simply not allowing this type of changes on the table source. I will investigate and come up with a solution. any suggestions/comments will be highly appreciated [~twalthr] [~ykt836] :-)
