[jira] [Commented] (BIGTOP-1704) Rewrite bigtop-detect-javahome

Konstantin Boudnik commented on BIGTOP-1704:
--------------------------------------------
Thanks for opening it, Mark!
Just want to reiterate my stance of the Python choice: the platform is known for all sorts of incompatibility issues (easy to google for proof-links). Also, Bigtop stack is coming with Groovy pre-packaged so no new runtime dependency will have to be added.

> bigtop-detect-javahome has been giving us problems. A few of us think bash is not the right language to do all that detection so opening a jira for re-writing it in a different more strongly typed language like python or groovy.
