SURBL install
I've joined the growing band of SURBL users today... Well almost.
Install seems to be clean, no errors or missing modules. Pm's are all in the
same directory. SpamCopURI.cf built with configs as per the SURBL web site.
Linting shows two references to uri test being done.
However, there had to be a however, when I send a test message through the
system it sails through without picking up any SURBL points.
System is RH 8, SA 2.63.
Any thoughts of where to look?
thanks
Alan

This is an excellent point... I know since I'm running vpopmail with
roaming users enabled that my IP gets classified as a relayclient in qmail,
so Spamassassin is not run against it any messages I send. In order to
test my installation, I have to use my yahoo account :-)

Thanks for the update. I should have remembered when I read your
post that the three-level test point test.surbl.org usually won't
work since most of the clients try to reduce domains down to
their registered domains. So a message containing a URI with the
fake two-level domain "surbl-org-permanent-test-point.com" should
trigger a SURBL rule.

Jeff
I did resolve this last night....
Reading through the SURBL news section you've changed the test point. I
originally used the one you posted to this list. Then the ones in the FAQ on
the SURBL web site.
When I used the one in the news section it worked as expected.
cheers

FWIW If you don't get this sorted out, you may want to try asking
on the SURBL discussion list:
http://lists.surbl.org/
That said, the behavior you're reporting makes me wonder if your
internal/local mail is being processed the same way as your
inbound external mail.
Can you get other SA rules to trigger when you locally re-send other
types of spammy messages, for example one already tagged by other
rules?

O.K. Now I'm confused. I was testing by sending an enail in with a URL
referring to test.surbl.org, which did not fire on the URI rules but Mooky
Mooksgill's message has just triggered two of them.
I'll test again.

Matt
Thanks for the prompt. Yes, spamcop_uri.cf is in the right place... However
the perms were wrong (no access for the mail user).
I've fixed those and re-run the test... Though the test mail is still not
caught.

Did you copy the .cf file for SURBL to your /etc/mail/spamassassin
directory? It won't run without rules calling it.
