Apache Usergrid Public Hipchat Room
Usergriders,
I have heard from a lot of users that they would like a place where we can all chat in real time (like IRC), but where the chat is always archived and searchable. Many Usergriders are also Apigee employees and we use hipchat every day. So, I have created a public room that we can all use. The URL is:
http://www.hipchat.com/goLqupL1B
Also, we are setting up a cron job to echo the daily history out to the dev list.
Some caveats:
- This is not an official Apache thing!! It is only a tool that we at Apigee are offering to make it easier to get in touch with some of the committers on the project.
- This isn’t meant to be a replacement for IRC!! Everyone can still hang out in the #usergrid room if they want.
Finally, this is just a test. Let’s give it a go and see how it works. If nobody likes it, we can bail on the idea.

This looks promising. We should investigate and test. Would be nice if everyone can have what they want.

I don’t know that much about IRC, but I found an article on Using HipChat through an IRC client with BitlBee...

One thing in favor of using hipchat is that you don’t need a client - just a web browser.
Just trying to improve communication.

I would prefer we had a recording bot idling in IRC (even though I still
have the list of custom hipchat icons).
Did it really not dawn on anyone during those discussions that a
bot+javascript search app would be a good use case/demo for usergrid? (Had
to go there - I miss giving you guys shit sometimes :)
