[jira] Commented: (MAPREDUCE-81) missing userlogs
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MAPREDUCE-81?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12846755#action_12846755 ]
Amareshwari Sriramadasu commented on MAPREDUCE-81:
--------------------------------------------------
This issue doesn't exist any more, because MAPREDUCE-927 solves this by modifying "mapred.userlog.retain.hours" to specify the time(in hours) for which the user-logs are to be retained after the job completion.

> I noticed that a long-running job taking more than 1 day can have reduce tasks with missing stderr and stdout log directories (the syslog files exist).
> I wonder whether it has to do with the default value of 12 hours for mapred.userlog.retain.hours, resulting in deletion of the stderr/stdout directories for reduce tasks idling till they start to actually reduce.
