Creating a custom ServiceEncoder

In 4-beta-8's tapestry.url.xml the <schema> for   

<configuration-point id="ServiceEncoders">

defines the included ServiceEncoder implmentations.

I want to create my own but the only way I've found it possible is to edit this to add my encoder to the schema.  Is there something I'm missing in HiveMind where I could append to that schema from my app's hivemodule.xml?

Has anyone created their own ServiceEncoders?
