[jira] Commented: (PDFBOX-535) .Net Binaries required for PDFBox
0.8.0 incubator
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PDFBOX-535?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=12761256#action_12761256 ]
Jukka Zitting commented on PDFBOX-535:
--------------------------------------
I'm getting a number of comments on blog about .NET binaries for the 0.8.0-incubating release, so it seems like there's reasonably wide demand for them.
I'm not sure if many of the current committers have .NET environments readily available for producing or reviewing such binaries. This may be a blocker for getting official release packages out.
As a workaround for now I would suggest anyone with IKVM installed to create the .NET binaries for 0.8.0-incubating and attach them here. This would solve the immediate need while we look for a more long term solution.

As it won't be a official release, IMHO it doesn't have to be signed
with a key from the "ASF PGP web of trust". Everyone who wants to use
that dll has to decide if he/she trusts Daniels release. If not, he/sha
has to build its own .NET-version.
For the future we have to find a way to create those dlls for our
official release. And these artifacts will be signed with a suitable key.
I've played around with ikvm-0.40 on my linux box, but the result
doesn't really work (there was the PDFReader window but the menu doesn't
work so that I can't load any pdf).

Yeah, as long as it's signed by a member of the community that should
certainly be OK for this snapshot.
For a long term solution we'll want releases to be signed by one of more
developers in the "ASF PGP web of trust" [1]. So if you're not already in
there, that'd be something to look into.
Thanks,

RE: [jira] Commented: (PDFBOX-535) .Net Binaries required for
PDFBox 0.8.0 incubator
Posted by "Martinez, Mel" <m....@ll.mit.edu>.
Just to clarify - I believe Jukka's request was for someone who can generate a .net binary (using the Ikvm cross compiler) to post that binary to the jira (PDFBOX-535) issue as an attachment. As an interim solution. Not that it would necessarily be included in the release.
Those who need a .net version should gravitate to that issue and there could decide on their own whether to use the attachment independent of the actual release.
You are correct that anything included in actual releases should be signed builds by core development.
