Lateral TCP How to?: fully connected cache before caching starts

Hi,

I have this setup with 4 boxes each running jcs in the lateral cache mode
(TCP servers not UDP) and I need caching to start off only when each has
established a connection to the other. The problem is because the systems
cannot all be up and running at the same instance, the caching system on a
particular box will be unable to connect to a box which comes up after it (I
did notice that the documentation on the jcs site suggests that the jcs
system goes into a recovery mode where it tries to re-establish connection
with the server, but this takes too long ).

What I want to know is, is there a way I can configure the number of retries
before the jcs system on an individual box goes into recovery mode?
and
Is there a way I can detect that the jcs system has gone into recovery with
respect to a particular server?

thanks
