Why not Apache Office, then lending OpenOffice name in exchange for code and contributions
Hi,
How about branding Apache OpenOffice to "Apache Office", because Apache's name carries well. Then, making a deal, to get code and contributions for several years from LibreOffice to go under Apache in exchange for licensing the name OpenOffice to The Document Foundation. Though, keep ownership of the name and website of OpenOffice.
Also, there's an OpenSource text ebook from OpenStax, called "Work Place Software and SKills" which is about Microsoft Office, but it applicable to any office software suite. This can be forked to be about Apache OpenOffice and LibreOffice together as opensource products. It can also be broken down into booklets each for the Word Processor, Spreadsheet, Database and Presentation programs.
Thank you

Keep things as usual. Just use Apache OpenOffice as it is and it was.
Search 'Apache' or 'open office' for more information.
In the way, we find more.

While it would be great to have more co-operation between TDF and the ASF, it would need to negotiated while understanding the non-negotiable details. The ASF is a US 501(c3) public charity producing software for the public good. This limits what the foundation can and cannot do.
1) Microsoft owns the registered trademark of “Office”, “Apache Office” is not a product we can produce.
2) Nothing from The ASF prevents TDF contributors from contributing to OpenOffice. We treat all as individuals and require contributions under the ALv2. Contributions are non revokable.
3) Nothing prevents TDF from discussing how we might combine efforts other than any software which is an Apache branded product has to follow the ASF’s legal, trademark, and release policies.
4) If the TDF wants to discuss sponsorship of OpenOffice or The ASF there are foundation officers who handle that.
If someone from the TDF wishes to discuss such co-operation then I invite an email to private@openoffice.apache.org

The Apache OpenOffice is an all volunteer project. If you wanted to work with our docs volunteers please start a conversation on dev@openoffice.apache.org
Best,
Dave, as an individual, but also I am VP, Apache OpenOffice
