erlang client to c++ server not working

I get this message:
Thrift: Wed Jul 11 20:34:24 2012 TSimpleServer exception:
N6apache6thrift8protocol18TProtocolExceptionE: TProtocolException: Invalid
data

Seeking advice on what to do next.

I am using debian testing and the git trunk from github.
My "service" is oneway.

The status of erlang support in thrift is not clear.
Is it known to work ?
