Sample FO Documents

As I mentioned in another forum, I have a fairly comprehensive set of
samples, both contrived and realistic, that are available to any
implemmentors. I'd be happy to provide these to the FOP team--just let
me know who to send them to or where to upload them. These have been
developed both as demos of using FO to do multi-language composition of
technical manuals and as samples in service of a new FO course we're
developing. The downside for FOP is that these examples were developed
initially using XSL Formatter, which is the most feature complete
implementation. That means that the samples and demos have not been
tailored to work w/in FOP's current limitations.

Cheers,

Eliot

Hi Eliot,

I presume there is a large number of large and complicated samples that
would be a bit too much.

They could be placed in bugzilla if not appropriate for cvs.
We could then grab them and use when suitable.

The idea of course is to work through and fix the limitations in FOP.

Keiron.

Oleg, Eliot,

I think this is probably a good idea.

I believe the best place is ISOGEN site itself (afair you said there is a plan
to make them publicly accessible there). Having such samples is extremely
important, but as we all understand FOP is just not ready for them yet.

If no one else has the time then I will take these and try to incorporate
them into a subdirectory of docs/examples
I am not a committer - but supposedly look after the FAQ

http://www.OWAL.co.uk/cgi-bin/fopfaq.cgi

(I don't personally have lots of time as I am doing publicity for myself in
London looking for XML publishing work - but this sounds so important to
help with the uptake of FOP that I'll make the time).

I don't really want to change the samples if they use XSL:FO features not
implemented by FOP, but I may move them into a separate "not yet
implemented" directory.

Are the XSL:FO files self documenting? do they say in the generated pdf
what should appear?
