[jira] [Commented] (PARQUET-358) Add support for temporal logical types to AVRO/Parquet conversion

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/PARQUET-358?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15127208#comment-15127208 ]

Ryan Blue commented on PARQUET-358:
-----------------------------------

[~k.shaposhnikov@gmail.com], the upstream Avro 1.8.0 release is out. It was delayed a bit by licensing issues. I've added a PR that implements the logical types API from Avro 1.8.0 in parquet-avro. It would be a huge help if you have time to review it. Thank you!

> Both [AVRO|https://github.com/apache/avro/blob/trunk/doc/src/content/xdocs/spec.xml] and [Parquet|https://github.com/apache/parquet-format/blob/master/LogicalTypes.md] support logical types for dates, times and timestamps however this information is not transfered from AVRO schema to Parquet schema during conversion.
