Tomcat native ia64 binaries wrong?

Hi,

I don't have the hardware to test if this is an issue on ia64 this but
the following files have the same MD5 hash:

http://www.apache.org/dist/tomcat/tomcat-connectors/native/1.1.20/binaries/win64/ia64/tcnative-1.dll
http://www.apache.org/dist/tomcat/tomcat-connectors/native/1.1.20/binaries/win32/tcnative-1.dll

That looks suspicious to me. I'd expect the x86 and ia64 binaries to be
different.

Mark

It would mean dropping IA64 target.
Note that source code support is still there.
It will compile and build happily but IMHO x86, and x86_64
targets is all we should provide.

During all the years I was building IA64 binaries
I can recollect only one question about it, an that one
was more out of curiosity.

Sure there might be some silent use we are not aware of,
but the UFO's are flying all over our heads as well :)

I can drop that target if you don't have a time.
Deleting two <copy> and one <download> should be sufficient
(or just commenting them out)

We can always add them back if Itanium suddenly becomes
very popular (which I somehow doubt it'll ever happen :)

I have updated the correct binaries for IA64
Give it couple of hours for a sync.

Remaining stays however. I don't plan to make them
in the future. Just too much hassle for nothing,
so you might just drop it now or later.

Fine with me. That will mean a updates to the build scripts, Windows
installer etc as well.

I'm working on the Windows installer at the moment. I'll add this to my
todo list (pity it doesn't make what I am trying to do any easier)

Actually, as an ex-HP-ite, I'm aware that (believe-it-or-not) Itanium-based Windows servers were somewhat popular for running large instances of SQL Server. Don't know how true that still is.

I doubt if they typically want Tomcat on those machines. I'll see if I can get in touch with the Windows enablement people and see if they care and are willing to invest the time to make it right.

OOOPS! Guess that's what happens when you depart the ia64 mother ship; you lose track of even old news.

+1.
I've seen one non HP-UX IA64 system in 10 years, and that was RHEL.

Right, this is actually x86 binary, not an ia64 one.
Seems I did a wrong upload back in February.

Since you are the first one that figured that out
after more then 8 months, it just convinces me that
we should drop IA64 binaries altogether.
At least I don't plan to produce them any more
