Bug with digest attribute/UserDatabaseRealm?

I set the digest attribute to "sha" in
UserDatabaseRealm, and tried adding a new user using
the admin application. It did add a user, but the
password was saved in cleartext in tomcat-users.xml
and not in its digested form.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? Any help
appreciated.
