Mysterious error: You probably access the destination server through a proxy server that is not well configured.

Can someone tell me what is the meaning of this message:
    "You probably access the destination server through a proxy server
that is not well configured."
 
I'm not using any proxy server unless somehow a setting is being picked
up by the environment.
