"Tools">"Language"... has no shortcut letter trigger to permit keyboard-only
activation of lower-level menu items such as hyphenation, etc. Suggest using n,
as it's the only unused letter in "Language" in that drop-down. Note that this
may be related to issue 84940.
"File">"Save"...when doing a manual (aka shortcut "Alt+F/S") save and there is
nothing unsaved, I suggest returning to the text instead of requiring an Esc to
do so. This issue may related to issue 60380.

Yes, using mnemonic i for "Line Numbering" should work. Then the mnemonic L for
"Language" is set automatically.
You can test it, when you change "~Line Numbering..." to "L~ine Numbering..."
in your local installation. It is in file share/registry/writer.xcd in your
program folder.
The file to be changed in core is
/main/officecfg/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/UI/WriterCommands.xcu
It is an "easy hack".
Similar problems have been discussed in bug 122288 for some other mnemonics
some time ago.
The problem is in en-US. Problems for other languages are solved in Pootle. I
set the component back to Writer.

Really? Can you tell me which "function/category" the Tools>Language>...etc.
sequence would belong to? I find nothing in that cryptic "Customize" dropdown
that relates. The online help for that particular operation would be greatly
enhanced by a "for instance" example...maybe using the overlooked Language
shortcut!
Is it really too much trouble to ask that OpenOffice assign defaults to the
shortcut keys? LibreOffice has managed to do that.
And assigning this matter the "resolved/not an issue" is perhaps a good way to
dismiss users like me but it won't solve the usability matter for others who
can also vote for LibreOffice when OpenOffice doesn't care.

In all modules except Writer there is the first letter of ~Language defined as
shortcut letter. But in Writer it seems overwritten by ~Line Numbering….
Because »i« isn't used as shortcut letter in the Tools menu, I suggest to
define L~ine Numbering… to preserve »L« for ~Language.

Not an issue for me. If you want a shortcut, you can create it through Tools >
Customize menu (keyboard tab).
