[Bug 3805] New: RFE: Manual whitelist for URIDNSBL lookups
http://bugzilla.spamassassin.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3805
Summary: RFE: Manual whitelist for URIDNSBL lookups
Product: Spamassassin
Version: SVN Trunk (Latest Devel Version)
Platform: All
URL: http://www.surbl.org/dns-queries.whitelist.counts.txt
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P5
Component: Plugins
AssignedTo: dev@spamassassin.apache.org
ReportedBy: jeffc@surbl.org
Please consider adding a hard-coded "ignore" list for URI checking for the
programs in the URIDNSBL plugin. For exampe, not checking the top whitelist
hits at: http://www.surbl.org/dns-queries.whitelist.counts.txt would prevent a
large number of unnecessary DNS queries to the SURBL nameservers. Probably
similar improvements would apply to uridnsbl lookups into SBL.
For building an ignore list, I say start at the top of the list and take the
obvious whitehats like yahoo, yimg, w3.org, ebay, ebaystatic, akamai,
akamaitech, microsoft, msn, google, nytimes, paypal, aol, etc.
An alternaitve to hardcoding would be for us to publish a whitelist, but most of
the domains are stable and obvious enough that hardcoding would probably be fine.
