Apache2.x fails to start on Win2k
------- Additional Comments From parikshit@email.com 2002-09-10 01:45 -------
The actual error on why Apache wasn't starting was found when I looked up the
Windows Event Log. The server failed due to parsing error of httpd.conf file.
The problem is that I have NFS mounted file system on my Windows box. These are
mounted as different directories. Apache on my machine is installed in my C:
drive, which is a local PC drive. In order for the Apache server to serve the
files from these other mounts name E:/ and G:/ I added a few <Directory>
directives to the httpd.conf file. This is the change that I did:
Alias /pari/ "G:/opt/var/files/"
<Directory "G:/opt/var/files/">
Options Indexes MultiViews
AllowOverride None
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>
On seeing this the Apache server fails and reports:
<Directory "G:/opt/var/files/"> path is invalid.
I know the G: drive is mounted properly and I can access this same directory by
using a 'cmd' window and typing "G:\opt\var\file".
I know this was working in the previous Apache1.3.x version that I had
installed. But from the time I installed the Apache2.0.x, this directory
directive is failing.
Thanks,
Pari.
