Functions don't work in the User Defined Variable test element.
However they do work in the User Parameters Pre-Processor. This has an "update
once per iteration" check-box. If checked, the value of the variable will only
be evaluated each time round. If unchecked, the variable will be evaluated every
time it is referenced.
