This is not actually my implementation but one I've found googling.
It's generified.
Seems to be good enough although it could probably use some cleaning up and formatting to adhere to you coding conventions.

I'm also in favor of adding a base implementation of the chainingmodel to the wicket codebase.
Seems like a good idea to avoid duplicating this code in all projects that work with their own chainable models.
