[jira] [Commented] (OAK-2138) Alternative implementation of AuthorizableNodeName interface

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OAK-2138?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14200258#comment-14200258 ]

Thomas Mueller commented on OAK-2138:
-------------------------------------

I would use a bit more randomness (126 bits), so you don't need to worry about possible conflicts (see [UUID probability of duplicates|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universally_unique_identifier#Random_UUID_probability_of_duplicates]).

Performance could be improved from around 70'000 to around 350'000 random names per second by generating all 21 bytes of randomness at a time, but I guess that's not an issue currently.

> it would be desirable to provide an alternative implementation of the AuthorizableNodeName interface that doesn't generate predictable node name/path.
