Receive the message "This feature is not fully supported in J2EE 1.3. You have to upgrade your project to J2EE 1.4" when trying to use the wizard to create a Message Driven Bean (MDB) for a Java EE 8 Web type project.

As of the EJB 3.1 specification I understand it should be possible to create EJB objects directly in a single WAR project (instead of neeading an EJB module). I'm using Wildfly 18 as the server which is Jakarta EE compliant and certified.

To reproduce:
 # create Maven web project. Assign wildfly server. (NB. drop down list box for version only lists EE7Web as an option)
 # Go to project properties. Select Run options. Change server type to EE 8 Web.
 # Edit POM to include correct version of the APIs
 # Use File, New.. wizard to create MDB.

WorkAround:

Create a simple Java class and manually add the annotations needed for a MDB.

For example:
