Alan,
Thank you for the speedy response. I agree with your suggestion and will reinstall OpenOffice. I've been using OpenOffice for almost 10 years without an issue. The version is 4.1.1
I've been very pleased and appreciative of the service and support.

Hello Kim,
Not certain from the description what steps you take to experience the
problem.
That said, suggest you try installing OpenOffice again. If the installation
has become compromised in some way, installing again should resolve the
problem.

We need more information if we are to help you.
First, what operating system are you using? Windows, Mac, Linux? What version number?
How are you opening a file? Do you double click on it; if so, what happens.
Have you tried starting OpenOffice as a program, then using /File /Open to point to the file in question? Does that work?
