hadoop -fs exit values

Hi there,

When I run some DFS commands using the shell, I am not getting an exit
value...(atleast not in python) eg:
/state/partition1/hadoop-0.16.3/bin/hadoop fs -test -d '/temp/'

should return me 0 if the directory exists.

I use os.system() from python to execute the commands
Any ideas?
