GCC flags?

The malloc_debug stuff on beos really needs to also remove the -O2 flag from
the build line or it really does take a VERY long time a huge amount of
memory to build, so autoconf-guru like people, is it possible that we can
add a function such as APR_REMOVEFROM that does exactly what it sounds like?
Would that make sense?
